The New Year Warm Up Cruise (Cruise West Cumbria 10) was the first cruise to be held in Barrow, and we weren't disappointed. With the move to the south of the county we expected to see less cars from Scotland and the North East of England, but this was more than made up for by the convoys that rolled in from the rest of the country. There were convoys from rude2cruz, Cruise Blackpool, Lancaster, DarkCruisers, Midnight Racing, Cruise Stockport, Cruise North Wales, Yorkshire Cruise, Edinburgh Cruise and byebyegti. These are just the convoys that we know about! We had an estimated 500 cars and probably over 1000 people on the night, which makes it one of our biggest cruises yet. It is certainly the largest winter cruise CWC has ever had. A press report in Friday's North-West Evening Mail and the fact that the car park had easy access from the town centre meant that there were a lot of spectators at the cruise. From the feedback on the night I think they enjoyed themselves and some even talked about modding their own cars and joining in the fun in the future. The press also attended on the night, so we expect another report in the local papers sometime during the week. Fast And Modified magazine were there so we should get a feature in one of their magazines. This is the first time a mag has visited a CWC cruise, but with the turnout we are getting and the quality of the cars on display it won't be the last. The professional cruise photographer that attended CWC9 came back, and was even more impressed with CWC10. High quality copies of his pictures from both CWC9 and CWC10 will be available for sale on his website streetexposure.com which is currently under construction. We will soon be getting a few low resolution copies for this website. The police presence was heavier than usual, with at least 2 vans and a number of cars visiting the cruise through the night. It's likely that as we were at a new location, the local police were just curious to see what all the fuss was about. Everyone was well behaved, so I think the police had a good night too. Thanks to everyone who used the bins for their litter. The Cruise wombles had a much easier time than usual when they cleared up the litter at the end of the night. Thanks to all who turned up and braved the icy January conditions and we hope to see you all again at CWC11.
