After a long wait, CWC19 finally happened on the 14th June 2008. We decided it was time to forget shows, feature cars, RR days, drag days, merchandise, and all the other distractions for a while, to concentrate on what CWC is all about; Cruising in Cumbria.

The venue for the night was Rosehill in Carlisle, which we first used in 2004. Rosehill's not everyone's favourite location, but a compromise that keeps most people happy is better than nothing at all, and as one of England's longest running cruise clubs (5 years and counting), we must be getting something right. Some people prefer Rosehill to any other car park, it just goes to show everyone's got different tastes.  Rosehill has very few marked parking bays which led to some comedy parking, but it's big enough to fit everyone in and still leave room for people to move around.

With Fast Car magazine turning up to feature the event, and coverage in the local press in the days beforehand, we knew that there was going to be a good turnout. We had the usual mix of bodykits, ICE, engine mods and classic vehicles of all mark join us on the night, but for some reason there were more finely turned out Fords than we normally see. We were also impressed by the number of Hondas on show, and Fast Car made the most of them by organising a Honda only photoshoot at the bottom end of the car park. There was also a good turnout of classic minis and quite a few bikes on display amongst the car crowd, so there certainly was something for everyone to see.

Our sponsors were also in attendance at the cruise. JP Imports brought along a Nissan Cube and a Nissan Figaro as a demo of what they can import from Japan for UK customers. Chip-it had a one night only offer of a free electronic diagnostics check on your vehicle and 10% discount on remapping.

Later on in the evening the rain came in, and even though it was only a short shower a lot of people took it as their cue to call it a night. For those who stayed there were plenty of old friends to catch up with, new friends to be made and plans and projects to be discussed.

Thanks again to all the Cruise Wombles who helped to tidy up at the end of the night; there aren't many big car parks in Cumbria and tidying up after ourselves is one way to make sure we continue to be allowed access to them. We look forward to seeing you all again at CWC20, which will be coming soon....
