After a shaky start at the original venue, Cruise West Cumbria 2 turned out to be a stunning success. Sorry for anyone who turned up late to Port Road and missed all the fun. The reason we weren't there was because someone with an overactive imagination spread a vicious rumour that the police were going to block the road off. I've never seen a car park empty so fast!. The police did find the cruise venue while doing their normal rounds, but there was no sign of any road block. We visited Port Road a number of times during the night (picking up stragglers), but the road was never blocked.

Everyone had the sense to stick together, and the cruise continued in the BK car park. It probably worked out for the better as the number of cars that turned up would have swamped the original venue. I couldn't count all the cars (too many!) but there must have been at least 200. There were some amazing cars, all makes and models. It was nice to see Bat Cars turn up with their show cars. Once again the atmosphere was friendly (just what I'd expect in Cumbria!) and people crowded around to see the best cars, even though it was bloody freezing (also just what I'd expect in Cumbria!!!!!).

The police were pretty good and didn't break up the fun. There was one incident when they gave chase, and apparently the guy was caught after denting his car. If you have any more info, please post it on the forum. At one point a police van tried to cruise through the car park, but he left quite quickly when a crowd started to build up around him.

The professional photographer was there but unfortunately he didn't have much time, and the change of venue didn't help. I don't think he got any decent shots, but we hope to have him back next time. The good news is that we have upgraded our camera equipment, so the photos on the website are much better this time. We even have some videos........

A full house, and plenty more behind the cameraman.

Bat Cars put on a good show.

A classic Cossie.

Gotta love that Cosworth engine.

Plenty of Japanese muscle about.

And even some British muscle!

Unmodified at the moment, but you never know it could be the first Maxed Landrover.

There were a few wicked burnouts; I managed to catch this one on video which is available to download from the Videos page.

Chunks of rubber everywhere.

A superb example of an Evo.

There were some excellent neons on display.

And a few superb boot installs.

And of course some awesome bodywork mods.

Another mint Evo.

And a nice looking Scooby too. Look hard enough in this pic and you can see a copper trying to hide his van behind a tree.

He did a drive through of the cruise venue, which some peeps were not too happy about.

After a crowd started to form around the van he soon left and parked up on the other side of the road.

Maybe he thought the backfires from this Nova were gunshots.

Look at the vents on that, its not often you see roof mods.

Not much point blurring the numberplate when the paintwork is so distinctive!

It wasn't just the cars that were out for the cruise.

I think I've found the channel tunnel!

How rude.

But it did have some cool neons.

More nice neons, and a quality polish job.

A nice and shiny XR2I.

Another quality boot install, it sounded sweet too.

Nice looking focus. I wonder if he parked under those signs on purpose?.

Another classic, the Renault 5 GT Turbo.

It has a lot crammed into that small engine bay.

I think one of these guys is the proud owner.

The magic tree nicely matches the car colour.

I'm loving the spoiler.

Another good light show.

Very sparkly paint job.

All black colour scheme.

More black, but nice white rims.

I know there are photos of these elsewhere, but this was a nice group shot at the end of the night.

Another group shot at the end of the night, Type-R Tastic.

Type-R lump with an induction kit fitted, should free up a few extra horses.
