In November 2009, parts of Cumbria were hit by major flooding, taking a life,
washing away major bridges, causing millions of pounds worth of damage to
homes and businesses and causing mayhem to parts of the county. The Cumbria
Flood Recovery Fund was set up to help everyone involved.
At CWC22 we collected £100 towards this cause and thank everyone for their
kind donations.
CWC22 was held on 27th March 2010 at Devonshire Walk car park in Carlisle, a
very popular cruise location. Having nearly 3 years absence from there
and 9 months since CWC21 we were expecting a pretty good turnout. A clash with
Carlisle FC, who were playing at Wembley the next day, meant that a lot of
people had gone down to support them, but the turnout of cruisers on the night
was not to disappoint. Travelling from all parts of Cumbria, and as far
away as Manchester, Scotland and the North East, around 300 cars turned up to
show off their pride and joy. With many convoys joining together to make
the last part of the journey a more eventful one. The show season was
just around the corner and it was good to see some newly modified cars out and
the fresh modifications and projects that had been taking place over the
Winter.
As the cruisers showed respect the Police presence was kept very low, to
allow everyone to enjoy the night. The night was cold but the burger van was
on hand to keep everyone in supply with hot food and drinks and did a superb
job.
Thanks as always to the Cruise Wombles, especially scotziamodz, who helped to
clean up at the end of the night. Thank you to Cumbria Constabulary,
Carlisle City Council and the residents of Caldew Maltings for understanding
our interests and hobby.
We look forward to seeing you all again at CWC23, which will be coming
soon....
