Fast and
Modified 2007 began with a convoy from McDonalds in Carlisle at 5:30 am,
surprisingly it wasn't open for breakfast. We set off with more cars
joining us further up the road and several more meeting us there at the
showground. This year promised to be a good show for CWC with a great looking stand and 3 cars in
the top 50 Show Cars, everyone was in good spirits for such an early set off.
The convoy stayed together for most of the way, as usual some people missed
turnoffs, it wouldn't be a CWC convoy without someone getting temporarily lost.
The weather
looked very dubious early on with some light rain but that soon cleared once we
arrived at the show and from dinner time it remained sunny. With the stand all
set up and cars cleaned it was time to enjoy the show, inside the main building
were the top 50 Show Cars including some of our own CWC members; Kate’s Ka, Dan
Corsa's Corsa and Yogi's RX7, they were joined by trade stands some with their
own demo cars. Outside were the club displays, other trade stands and also the
action arena with D1 Drift demos and monster trucks to keep us entertained
throughout the day. Yogibear also kept us entertained and made his fame by
singing as part of the Club stand Pop Idol competition, he won £200 for his
troubles and later on in the day bagged £250 worth of brakes.
With a 10 car
stand outside and the 3 CWC cars inside the site was well represented and the
stand got a lot of attention throughout the day, with many people being their
first time of showing with the Club. Last years show was excellent and was
widely regarded by many as the best 1 day show of 2006 and this year certainly
didn't disappoint with massive club and trade displays and the action.
The obligatory
CWC BBQ came out around dinnertime with food provided by all and the money
chipped in raising a few quid for charity. Riles was on chef duty as normal as
we soaked up the afternoon sun with a burger or 2 and a cuppa.
Pictures of the stand are below but there are plenty more pictures of
the rest of the show on
