The Modified Nationals 2006 took place on the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of June. This year the show moved from Newark Showground down to Rockingham Speedway in Northamptonshire. Although the show may have lost the charm and convenience it used to have when it was a small show based at Billing, the Rockingham venue is large enough to contain a huge show, has excellent facilities and the added advantage of the racing circuits.

Two CWC convoys headed down on Friday, meeting up at the camping ground. Camping this year was far better than last year, with acres of space. The long hike to the night time entertainment wasn't to everyone's liking, but regular shuttle busses meant that if you were prepared to wait you could avoid the walk.

CWC took to the track on both Saturday and Sunday, with cars competing in the 0-60 sprint, driving on the twisty National track and taking to the oval. The excellent grandstand facilities meant that it was only a short walk from the club stands to get a clear view of the track action. This guaranteed that a good crowd was watching the action at all times. Some impressive 0-60 times were set, and the 80mph 'speed limit' on the tracks was completely ignored. A bit of clutch slip and a set of worn out brakes showed that the CWC cars weren't hanging around.

The CWC stand had seven cars which showed off a pretty good cross section of what CWC is all about. From kitted up show cars to impressive ICE installs and big power gains, there was something to interest everyone. There was plenty of interest in all the cars from general spectators, and several of the CWC cars caught the eye of the professional photographers that were walking around, so watch out for pictures in some of the car magazines.

The show was much bigger this year, with more show cars, cruise stands, babes, and trade stands than last year. The weather was scorching all weekend, and this was the first car show for a long time where the dust wasn't a problem. Everyone seemed to have a good time, and if the show is at Rockingham next year CWC will definitely be returning.
