You may not have actually seen this car, but there is a good chance you have heard it if you have spent any time travelling around Cumbria. This car is owned by Paul (far right in the above pic) aka puntostyling on our forum. This could be the loudest Punto in the country, but as the number plate says 'loud and proud'.

It started out standard enough.

And spent some time with some more subtle mods.

Before it went into SBS for some major modifying. This car has seen a lot of work: Extreme front bumper, Extreme2 rear bumper, Extreme2 side skirts, Tornado mirrors, Clio bonnet vent, single wiper conversion, flushed boot, bad boy bonnet and Corsa arches blended into the bodywork. The indicators and aerial have been removed to improve the cars clean lines. A five door Punto is pretty rare, but one modified to this extent is even rarer.

A boot spoiler and smoked Lexus rear lights complete the back end, with the whole lot having a blue to green flip rage illusion re-spray.

Poking through the rear bumper is a Powerflow 'twin twin' exhaust. Together with the widened down pipe and de-cat, this accounts for the ear splitting exhaust note.

The boot install kicks out a fair volume too. A Kenwood head unit and  5 channel amp power a 12inch sub, Alpine 6x9s and JBL front speakers.  A class 1 Toad alarm has been installed to keep it all safe.

The engine bay has been left pretty well untouched for now. A K&N panel filter helps squeeze the maximum from the 1.1 engine, but there is plenty of room in there for a more powerful lump.

After being put on 17" BK240 alloys and being dropped 60mm on a Gmax suspension kit, there is not a lot of room left under the arches.

But it can still carry 5 people without bottoming out and the steering wheel can turn from lock to lock without rubbing. Not bad for a 4" increase in wheel size, and necessary for a car that is used every day.

It's looking good now, but apparently it's far from finished. By spring it should be fitted with bucket seats and the interior will have been re-trimmed to match. After that the 1.1 engine will be replaced with a 1.4 turbo, so if you think it's loud now, it looks like it's going to get a whole lot louder!
