CWC's third Rolling Road Day was held at MiniMaster in Penrith. The event was delayed by a few months as the rollers were flooded out the night before we had originally planned the event. On the day the rollers had to be pumped clear of water several times, but there was plenty of time for power runs on each of the 13 cars that turned up to go on the dyno. The highest power recorded at the wheels on the day was 215bhp from a supercharged Civic Type-R. The conversion from power at the wheels to power at the flywheel varies from car to car, but +20% gives a reasonable approximation to account for transmission and tyre losses for a front wheel drive car. Plenty of people turned up to watch throughout the day, it was good to finally meet some of the people who until now had just been a username on the forum. Having talked to quite a few people, I think we will hold the next rolling road day on 4WD rollers, so both 4WD and 2WD can join in. Everyone seemed to enjoy the day, even though the weather changed from sunshine to hailstones and back to sunshine again. It was good to see the power increases that some cars had made since the last rolling road day. With the modifications some of you have planned for the future, it looks like there will be plenty more power to come. Estimating the power that a mod has given your car is one thing, but seeing it measured on the rollers is the only way to know exactly what difference it makes. There is also nothing quite like seeing your car on full throttle just a few feet away, although if your exhaust system is as loud as some of the guys who ran today, it might take a few hours for your hearing to recover. Click the pictures for a larger image, the power quoted is wheel horse power.
