On Saturday 20th January 2007 CWC headed down the M6 to Teg Sport in Carnforth for a rolling road shoot out. As the rollers could run 2WD or 4WD cars, we were sure of a good turnout.

We decided to run the 4WDs first and the 2WD cars after lunch.  By 8:30am Teg Sport’s car park was completely full and braving the strong winds the first few cars were soon lined up ready to go.  The rolling road was nicely installed in a garage at the back of Teg Sport, with enough room for people to go inside, and the doors to be shut to keep any noise away from the local community. We were all able to get up close to the dyno and feel the power from each car on the rollers, which is something you don’t usually get to experience. The exhaust fumes from the cars are filtered out into the air outside and a good flow of air is blown through the garage to keep engines cool.

25 cars ran on the day, with a total of 6554bhp! The highest power recorded on the day was from a Nissan Skyline R34 GTR, with 382bhp at the fly wheel. The rollers recorded wheel horse power and the Dyno Dynamics software converted the figure to flywheel horsepower (shown in the printouts below) using a different in built conversion factor for each type of transmission.

A good turn out.

Rally heritage and a garage out back with the rollers.

The garage with the rollers was sound proofed to keep the neighbours happy.

Even more impressive as it was running a bit lean so it wasn't given a full run!
