On Saturday 15th March 2008, CWC went back to JDM Dyno at Kirkbride Airfield near Carlisle, for it's 6th Rolling Road Day. The plan was to hold half a day on the rollers but the as the 15th came closer there was a full list of cars wanting to do power runs, so a full day was booked and with 14 cars running the event carried on well into the afternoon. Once again there were a few nice surprises, with readings being much higher than expected for some modified cars. Dougie's Civic Type R managed to break the record for the most powerful car the rollers have tested so far, with a whopping 487 bhp on a 2wd car. For some it was their first time on a rolling road and most people were pleased at how much power they were putting out. There were also a few who had recently made modifications and more tweaks with their engine setups who were happy with their results.

The power runs shown below are flywheel horsepower, a 20% factor has been added to the wheel horsepower figures measured by the dyno to compensate for transmission losses. The actual transmission losses will vary by a few percent from car to car, but given that standard cars ran standard power on the day it's a pretty good approximation.

We didn't manage to get pictures of the first two runners, so if anyone else got some shots of these cars please email them to admin@cruisewestcumbria.co.uk and we will put them up on the website.
