Saturday morning
arrived and the sound of exhausts rumbled throughout Kirkbride
as once again CWC had a rolling road day, this being their 7th. The venue was
once again the ever popular
JDM Dyno at Kirkbride Airfield near Carlisle.
There was a good
turnout on the day and 20 cars made power runs and a few others
came along to watch and have banter. Although some people had to
wait a long time to run their car, the craic was enough to keep
all involved occupied and gave newbie's a chance to get to know
everyone. The comedy award of the day must go to Morris and the
boys attempting to get their Corsa on a trailer ready for the
trip up to Crail the next day.
There was a mix
of cars and something to everyone’s taste, with Dougie and
Morris bringing out the big guns in the form of their CTR and
Corsa. Dan and Rob brought along their old skool hot hatches in
the form of their 205GTi and Renault 5gt turbo, Dan’s car was
holding back due to carb issues but Jonathan from JDM Dyno was on
hand to let him and any else know how to deal with their minor
trouble.
Dean headed up
the new with his VXR, and the Jap tuners were out in force in
the shape of several Civics and Skylines. Scott’s induction kit
was the surprise of the day helping his 1.4 Ibiza to 132bhp.
Special thanks
to Jonathan, who was kept busy all day. Big thanks to everyone
involved in organising the event and all who turned up. Without
you CWC wouldn’t be where it is today. All this made for a very
enjoyable day out in the countryside and sparked a lot of talk
of further upgrades to most cars.
The next CWC rolling road day
should be very interesting indeed.

The power runs
shown below are flywheel horsepower, a 20% factor has been added
to the wheel horsepower figures measured by the dyno to
compensate for transmission losses. The actual transmission
losses will vary by a few percent from car to car, but given
that standard cars usually show standard power on the dyno, it's a pretty
good approximation.
