CWC's 9th rolling road day was
held at the ever popular
JDM Dyno at Kirkbride Airfield near Carlisle. 11 cars ran in
total, and despite the snowy conditions plenty of others turned up to see what was on the
rollers. As always there was a good mix of cars, but this time
no rear wheel drives were brave enough to risk the wintry
conditions and turn up for a run.
In the cold
conditions (-6 degrees at one point!) most engines ran well with
the very dense air. Most people were
happy with their power runs and a few were pleasantly surprised.
A couple did go home wondering where some of their horses had wandered
off to, but as ever Jonathan at JDM provided a few pointers that
should help to tempt them back.
The power runs
shown below are flywheel horsepower, a 20% factor has been added
to the wheel horsepower figures measured by the dyno to
compensate for transmission losses. The actual transmission
losses will vary by a few percent from car to car, but given
that standard cars usually show standard power on the dyno, it's a pretty
good approximation.
