On a cold, wet, miserable Cumbrian winter's day, nothing warms your toes more than checking out a stunning modded motor. Shabaz's modified Honda Civic Jordan caught our eye in 2006 when he entered his car on the Car Catwalk at Cruise Fest North West. We have also seen it at a number of Scottish cruises that CWC had convoyed up to, and at several other car shows. It took a while before both car and cameraman were in the same place, but we managed to hook up when Shabaz left his native Glasgow and popped south of the border to do some Christmas shopping. Even though the weather was foul we took a gamble as we had already waited too long to grab a feature, and with the car passing through Cumbria it was too good an opportunity to miss.

As luck would have it we managed to find a suitable location for the shoot under cover. We knew it wasn't the best conditions for taking pictures, but a car this good stands out in any light.

Shabaz started out with a standard Civic Jordan in 2004, but after meeting up with Carlton Automotive at Max Power Live, decided that it was time to make a few changes. Carlton Automotive had a lot of options available, and Shabaz went for a Delta 4 bodykit customised to fit his car in their Barnsley bodyshop. After a couple of weeks in the shop Shabaz got a phone call to ask if he had thought about adding graphics, and a month later after Zebra Graphics had decorated the car with F1 Jordan racing style graphics it was ready for the long drive home.

The Delta 4 front bumper has a custom mesh installed. After a while Shabaz decided to modify the bumper for more ground clearance as it was always catching. Shabaz also tried out some Angeleye headlights but they didn't suit the car so he swapped back to standard.

The car is running the standard Civic Jordan suspension, at the standard ride height, but the Delta 4 skirts hug the ground close enough so that it doesn't need to be lowered. Clear indicators have been fitted to tidy up the wings.

At the back smoked lights have been fitted, and extra reflectors added to keep the car legal. The rear bumper hasn't been meshed to show off the custom made dual exit stainless steel exhaust.

The exhaust was made by Custom Chrome Racing and is 2.5" all the way through, branching into two back boxes.

A custom race spoiler finishes off the back end.
Under the bonnet the 1.6 DOHC VTEC has been tarted up with a yellow and silver rocker cover and the underside of the bonnet is mirrored to show off the engine bling. Shabaz used to have a 2 litre Frankenstein engine fitted (B16 1.6 litre VTEC head on a B20 2 litre block), but changed it back to the 1.6 engine after someone made him an offer for the Frankenstein engine that he couldn't refuse. His current engine has a ported and polished head and a steel head gasket.

A Piper Cross ram air filter takes in cool air from behind the front bumper

and the exhaust manifold has been replaced by a Mugen 4 branch. A Wizards of Nos wet nitrous kit provides a 50 shot to give the car a little extra poke and purges out of the front wheel arches for show.
Shabaz is quite picky about what oil he uses!

The wheels are 18" Khan RSV alloys wrapped in Falken rubber, which nicely fill the arches without the car needing lowered. The brakes are EBC turbo groove disks with Greenstuff pads.

Inside the car its had a full black and yellow leather retrim with Jordan "buzzin hornets" embroidery in the backs of the seats and floor mats. The black door cards have been touched up with a dash of yellow piping. Believe it or not the gear gaiter is actually the standard one, though the gear nob has been swapped for a carbon fibre aftermarket replacement.

The carbon theme inside continues with a carbon fibre dash, ashtray, air vents and instrument surround. The steering wheel has been replaced with a yellow Khanfi racing one to match the retrim.

Indiglow multicoloured dials make for a spectacular display in the dash.

The boot hides a respectable custom built ICE install with the nitrous bottle taking pride of place in the centre. A Kenwood mp3 head unit powers a 1000W Kenwood amp and an Alpine V12 amp.

Alpine speakers are mounted up front in the doors along with custom mounted Alpine tweeters. These are assisted by two alpine 10" subs in the boot and two alpine 6x9s in the parcel shelf. In case you forgot, a couple of custom Jordan badges in the boot remind you what the base car was.

The car has had plenty of attention in it's time, with a feature in Redline issue 73 in Feb 2004 showing it off in all it's glory.

The car has won several awards, including Crail Max Mods "Best Modded Car", Max Power Crail 2004 "Show and Shine Best Interior", Crail Thrash 2006 "Crails Choice" and Banzai at Crail 2004 "Show and Shine Best Interior"

All this publicity has attracted several sponsors, with Shabaz being invited to join the Fast and Modified and Meguiars stands at a number of shows.

Shabaz has kept the standard window tints as he likes to show off the car's interior, but if anyone gets too close the proximity sensors on the Cat 1 Toad alarm, keep them away.

So what's next? The car is about as modified as Shabaz wants to make it, and he is thinking about a new project for the future. If he does keep the car it's going to go through a complete respray and have a new interior to match. You never know, this could be the first time we give the same car two different features!
