CWC members
don't just come from Cumbria. Shane is from just over the border
in Northumberland, and is a member of our forum and a regular at
CWC events. His Vauxhall Corsa has been evolving over the past 5
years into the modded machine that is it today. Shane, on the far
right in the above picture, has done almost all of the work on
this car himself, with a bit of help from his dad. It goes to show
that if you have enough skill and patience you can make a
home grown head turner without having to hand over a small fortune
for labour costs at your local body shop. Once it is finished, the
satisfaction that the car is all your own work makes the effort
well worth it.

The front end of
the car has a very distinctive Jap style bumper, but you can see
from the next picture that it wasn't always like that. The lights
are a quad headlight
conversion with the front indicators set into the bumper mesh.
|
Seen here
at the second CWC rolling road day on 15" wheels and with a Combat
front bumper, the car was too low to fit on the rollers. A high
speed impact with a Fox
meant that something new was needed at the front end.

The back end
has a flushed tailgate and a Combat rear bumper.
|
Under the bumper is a Rage straight
through exhaust that gives the car a very distinctive sound.
|
Under the
bonnet the car is powered by the standard 1.2 8 valve engine, for
the time being at least.

A
set of Combat side skirts, M3 mirrors and clear side repeaters
complete the sides of the car, and a Celica GT4 bonnet vent
finishes off the front. The car looks good even in the rain on a
wet Northumbrian Saturday afternoon.

Inside, a Pioneer CD player powers
Infinity 6x9s, Kenwood door speakers, and a Vibe 10" sub.
The driver gets a Cobra bucket seat, Sparco harnesses, a Ripspeed
steering wheel and an aftermarket gear knob.

The car is
lowered 40mm on G-Max springs, and window
tints all round,
add to the cars look and provide a bit of privacy.
|
The car is
currently sitting on 17" Wolfrace Iknos alloys, which required a
bit of work on the rear arches to squeeze them in.
|
At the back
of the car an Ultimate Velocity spoiler and Lexus rear lights
finish off the overall look.

 |
|
Work started on
the car 2 years before Shane even passed his driving test, so as
you can imagine there is more to come. In the near future the alloys
will be refurbished, and a bigger engine will be dropped in. The
size of the engine depends on how kind his insurance company are,
so expect anything from a 1.4 to a 2 litre turbo.
