Ultimate Street Car 2007 This was the first USC show that Cruise West Cumbria had attended and with the show being at Santa Pod, we were in for some serious Drag strip racing. Most people headed down on their own on the Friday so there was no convoy to the show but everyone met up at the Pod at different times through the night. As we arrived, our cars were all searched because you were not allowed glass bottles on the site so many people where changing them for plastics bottles at the entrance. The cars that were showing with Cruise West Cumbria came from all over the country, a few cars from the North East, a few from Cumbria, and a couple from Wales. Not many people knew each other so we used the Friday night to get to know each other and now most people are good friends and have gone to a lot of other shows together. We were allocated our stand which was also where we were camping. The shows main attraction was drag racing up the quarter mile strip which many people had went down early on the Friday so have ago before the main show started. As we arrived on the Friday night, we found our stand and after moving the next door neighbour’s cars out the way, we were able to get our cars in and set up the tents, those who had them. Other people just slept in their vans. Saturday morning soon came and we started to move our cars so people could see them as they walked around the stands and camp site, putting up our Cruise West Cumbria flag and putting our show plates on the cars. There wasn’t just Drag racing to keep us all entertained, the show had flame out competitions and burnout competitions. Two BTTOS cars represented CWC by displaying our showplates in the flame out competition. There were also the usual foods and drinks stands to keep us refreshed. The main event arena was packed with modified cars for everyone to look around. HondaPower was the only person on the stand who wanted to have a go at the quarter mile and had a few runs on both days, but it wasn't just about 1/4 mile drag racing, the dB drag racing was also attended by CWC cars. There was also entertainment put on Friday and Saturday night with a dance tent and a fun fair. The food outlets were open throughout the night to keep everyone filled up with some lovely food. Sunday brought something different. After discovering that not many people were looking around the camp site and finding out about a show and shine competition, two of Cruise West Cumbria cars entered the competition. After some serious washing and polishing, the cars were ready. Also on the Sunday, HondaPower wanted to gain some vital seconds on the strip and spent Sunday morning taking out the seating in his CTR. Later we found out that it was worth it, as he set a personal best of 13.6 seconds. Overall, the weekend was really good and we hope to attend many more USC Shows in the future. Pictures of the stand parts of the show are below but there are plenty more pictures of the rest of the show on the forum
