There are many reasons why we modify our cars, but for Dawn, John and Bryan (aka z20 corsa on our forum) from Dalton, their reason is as a tribute to their son and brother Danny. Danny owned this stunning Corsa car until his untimely death of a heart attack in 2003, aged just 20. His family took on the project he had started and in the past three years they have succeeded in realising Danny's dream of turning an ordinary Corsa SXI into an awesome prize-winning show car.

The most noticeable feature of the car is the paintwork. Sprayed by Park Road Autobody in Barrow using red and black glitter and holographic fibres over a black base coat. It took 3 weeks to complete and 30 coats of lacquer to get smooth. The holographic fibres catch the sunlight producing the rainbow effect. It looks good in the photographs but it looks amazing in real life.

The car hasn't always looked like this though. It began life as an ordinary Corsa C 1.2 SXI.

And spent some time in black before the spray job.

The bobykit fitted to the car has widened arches which have been blended in.

At the front a Reiger bumper has been fitted. The red mesh that came with the bumper has been sprayed silver.

Along the sides Reiger side skirts have been fitted. The standard mirrors have been replaced by M3 mirrors.

On top, the car came with a factory fitted sunroof, and a Reiger Spoiler has been added.

A Reiger back bumper and 3D Lexus style rear lights complete the rear.

Under the bonnet is a 2 litre turbo Z20LET from a Zafira GSI, fitted with a 9 litre intercooler an Astra 2 litre turbo radiator, a Ramair induction kit, and a Bailey external dump valve. Stainless steel pipework and red Samco hoses are used to connect it all together. The car also has an E-Tec strut brace to improve handling.

For extra power the intercooler has a CO2 spray bar fitted, to cool the inlet charge. The CO2 can also be purged through the vents fitted to the standard bonnet, and illuminated by red LEDs.

The windows have been tinted by Tint Masters in Preston.

The car sits on fully adjustable Coilovers which are set to give a 30mm drop. Because of the engine swap, the car needed Astra Coilovers at the front and Corsa Coilovers at the back. The wheels are 18" Ace chromes fitted with low profile Toyo tyres. New sleeves have been fitted in the wheel arches to allow the new wheels to fit. The front brakes are 284mm Red Dot disks with High Spec 4 pot callipers and EBC Green Stuff pads. The rear still has the standard Corsa drum brakes. Fitting the engine, suspension and callipers took JDM Dyno about one month.

The twin tail pipe exhaust is custom built by Powerflow, and is made out of 3.5 inch stainless steel and chrome pipe.

The front lights are Angel Eyes from FK Autosports, and the fog lights are from a Peugeot 407.

Red under car LEDs at the front, back, sides and in the wheel arches light the car up at night.

Inside the car the footwells also have red neons and the door sills light up red to match . The driver gets the use of Momo pedals and a B&M short shift gear stick (from an Astra).

The interior re-trim and boot install are by SQPlus from Manchester. The install is a 12 inch sub, 2 500W amps and an X Box. The car is protected by a Cat 1 alarm.

Up front there is an Alpine head unit and a 6 CD multichanger in the glovebox. A pair of 5 inch Alpine screens have been fitted to the back of both headrests. The CO2 bottle for the spray bar and purge is in between the front seats.

The middle headrest in the back has Danny embroidered into it as a tribute to him.

The car has already had success in competitions, winning second prize in the Club Car category at the Performance Vauxhall Show 2006 at Santa Pod, and second in the Show and Shine at Cruise Fest North West 2006.

Future plans for the car include up rated rear brakes and a dashboard re-trim, but even without these modifications its clear that Danny's family have done him proud and produced a car that will ensure that his memory will live on for years to come.
